Planetary Annihilation Gameplay Summary:

A nice Planetary Annihilation match from ZaphodX and Greppy. Both players had mediocre spawns, but both players turned it around and did a fantastic job with it. Lots of rading and lots of action. Impressive multi-tasking from ZaphodX. Really shows off his skill. Very back and forth match. Rather exciting.

Planetary Annihilation Lessons, Tips, and Tricks (spoilers)

When choosing a starting place, it’s important to look for expansion areas. If you have lots of metal at the spawn but no metal nearby, you’ll have a bad time. But if you don’t start with much metal, but have a great nearby expansion, you could turn that into a great spawn.

Long build queues are your friend. Automatic economic expansion without the clicks.

Don’t underestimate Radar coverage. It’s extremely helpful for early warning.

Build Energy Plants at your proxy bases. It allows you to recover from raids or even complete main base loss should things take a turn for the worse.

If your opponent has planes on patrol, he’s gaining very valuable intel. Don’t let him keep the planes above. It’s providing your opponent with very valuable intel.

If you get into your opponent’s base, target key buildings. Economy buildings are your primary target. Things like Nuke launchers or Anti nukes make other great key targets. If your opponent only has one advanced factory, that’s also a great target. You want to target the economy rather than production, because it’s more difficult to rebuild your economy than it is to re-build your production value.

Nice use of turrets by Greppy. They’re difficult to destroy, especially by bots, so they do a great job protecting buildings. The downside is they’re easy to go around.

And once again, we see how powerful naval units are and how much damage they can do by controlling the lake next to your opponent.
