Planetary Annihilation Gameplay Summary:

Match 1

An excellent Planetary Annihilation match between two very skilled players.

I was really excited about how this match turns out until ZaphodX said “I’m gonna go for a Commander rush.”

ZaphodX’s after action review of the match was a nice learning experience.

Planetary Annihilation Lessons, Tips, and Tricks (spoilers)

Lots of very nice flanking from both players. Really shows the power of bots in the early game. Getting bots to circle around your enemy’s base is a huge way to get a lot of wins and slow down your opponent’s exponential growth.

If you’re being aggressive with your Commander, be very careful to not over extend it. ALWAYS have fabricators, particularly combat fabricators. Combat fabricators can repair from a great distance and can repair while they are walking making them especially good for keeping Commanders alive. But be careful, combat fabbers use a lot of power.

Always be thinking about what you can do to counter your opponent and one up him.

Match 2

ZaphodX gets an excellent spawn and goes for an interesting early air harassment experiment.

Planetary Annihilation Lessons, Tips, and Tricks (spoilers)

If your opponent negates air, then early air harassment can be very effective. But if your opponent defends against air, then it’s difficult to be successful.

Don’t forget about the new area patrol command. Factories can give it. It’s especially helpful for having a web of fighters above your base.

Use radar. It’s an excellent way to know about incoming attacks.
