Planetary Annihilation Gameplay Summary:

This was quite the exciting Planetary Annihilation match between ZaphodX and Uber Entertainment developer bradnicholson.

The “Spawn Anywhere” setting does exactly what it says – players can spawn anywhere on any planet. This means there’s some strategy and a whole lot of luck. Do you want to be aggressive and spawn near the large metal field? Or do you want to be conservative and spawn by fewer metal spots so you don’t spawn right next to your opponent?

Planetary Annihilation Lessons, Tips, and Tricks (spoilers)

In the spawn anywhere game mode, an early radar is imperative. It will show you if your opponent spawned right next to you.

If there are multiple planets in a system, an early deepspace orbital radar is very important. If your opponent goes orbital, you MUST follow.

With multi-planet gameplay, get those

If your opponent is going for bots, single barrel laser defense towers are the way to go. Single barrel laser defense towers can one shot the Dox, and they cost a lot less.

If you do build defensive structures, build walls around them. They greatly increase your defensive structure’s effectiveness.

During the early stages of the game, going for the enemy’s eco is the way to go. If you take out half of your enemy commander’s health, but lose your entire army, your opponent came out on top of that engagement. It’s better to go for economy buildings so you can out produce your opponent in the long run.

Don’t attack the same place twice. Keeping your opponent on their toes prevents them from building up defensive towers which are more effective than units.

The best defense is a good offense. Seriously. Especially with the speed of bots, it’s better to attack on all sides so your opponent is reacting and can’t build up defensive lines.

Always keep an eye on your economy. If you tank your economy, it won’t end well.

NEVER stop expanding. Planetary Annihilation is all about massive armies. You can’t have massive armies without the economy to support it.

Scouting is very important. You need to know where your opponent is and where he is weak.

Always keep your Commander protected and in the center of your base. Don’t get sniped!
